JORC Executive Transition – Update May 2026

The Australasian Joint Ore Reserves Committee (JORC) advises of recent changes to its executive leadership and broader committee as the current Code review nears completion.

Peter Stoker OAM has retired from the committee after many decades providing insight and expertise. Peter has been a valued JORC member representing AusIMM since 1992, serving on the executive as Chair from 2005 to 2013 and as Deputy Chair since 2014, alongside representing CRIRSCO for the past 22 years. He has been involved with a remarkable six revisions of the JORC Code.

After 21 years of service, Steve Hunt has stepped down as Chair. A JORC member since 2005, Steve has chaired the Committee for the past 12 years through an important period of Code review and development. He will continue to serve as a CRIRSCO representative.

Also following 21 years of involvement, Chris Cairns has retired from JORC, representing AIG. Chris’s insights on the needs and challenges of the exploration end of the market has been a source of key inputs regarding some the largest users of the Code.

Jill Terry has retired from the committee after 15 years of service, representing MCA. Jill has provided longstanding support on JORC and the executive since 2011, most recently guiding the subcommittee on environmental, community and permitting aspects of the Code.

JORC sincerely thanks Peter, Jill, Steve, and Chris for their outstanding service. Their leadership and technical expertise have left a lasting mark on the JORC Code and the wider mining industry. We also recognise Peter Stoker’s transition into retirement and wish him all the best for the future.

New Executive Appointments

JORC is pleased to confirm the following appointments to its Executive:
  • Graham Jeffress (Chair) (AIG)
  • Andrew Hall (Deputy Chair) (AusIMM)
  • Ann Ledwidge (AIG)
  • Georgina Rees (MCA)
  • Lynn Olssen (CRIRSCO / AusIMM)

A structured transition has taken place over recent months to support continuity and an effective handover between outgoing and incoming executive members, and new committee members.

JORC is pleased to note that the committee now captures a broad mix of technical and business expertise, including geoscience, mining engineering, metallurgy, economics, law, accounting and equity analysis, reflecting the breadth of the mining industry. Pleasingly the committee now comprises members drawn one third each from exploration, resources and mining engineering, plus metallurgy.https://www.jorc.org/contact/
