What is new in the JORC Code?
This presentation was prepared in February, 2006, and first presented at the Perth Stock Exchange as part of an education program run by the ASX for its staff and executives of companies listed on the Exchange. It focuses on the differences between the 1999 Code and the 2004 Code, and a company's obligations in reporting its Reserves, Resources and exploration results to the public. 2004 JORC Code - What's It Mean to You?
On the 17th January, the Chairman of JORC, Peter Stoker, gave a presentation to a joint AIG and AusIMM meeting in Perth entitled '2004 JORC Code - What's it mean to you?'
We have received independent feedback stating that this was a very informative presentation with a sell out audience. It is anticipated that Peter will give a further presentation mid June to coincide with the JORC meeting in Perth. Changes incorporated in the 2004 JORC Code
A paper summarising the principal changes incorporated in the revised 2004 version of the
JORC Code and the reasoning behind them, has been prepared by the former Secretary (Current Chairman) of JORC, Peter Stoker, and is available at the link below.
The two most significant changes in the Code are:
- the requirement for a Competent Person to be responsible for the documentation relating to the reporting of Exploration Results, and
- the extension of the approved professional bodies to which a Competent Person may belong, to include 'Recognised verseas Professional Organisations'.
